Devi Nampiaparampil, MD, MS

Every year since 2015, Dr. Nampiaparampil a.k.a. “Dr. Devi” has been voted by other doctors to the Castle Connolly list of Top Doctors in the country. She has served the public by caring for patients, furthering medical research, advancing medical education, and improving health literacy. She has performed thousands of soft tissue and joint injections, nerve and plexus blocks, interventional spine procedures, spinal cord stimulator trials and implants, and epidural port and intrathecal pump implants in her career. Dr. Devi is board-certified in Pain Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine. She has a private practice, Metropolis Pain Medicine, in downtown Manhattan and is an Associate Professor at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Devi is an elected Board member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Dr. Devi graduated with honors from the seven-year combined B.A./M.D. program at Northwestern University. She double-majored in Biology and Economics and performed basic science research in Neurobiology.

She completed her medical training through Harvard Medical School where she did her Medicine internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, her Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/ Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and her Pain Medicine fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Afterward, she served as the Chief of Pain Management at the Veteran Affairs (VA) New York Harbor Healthcare System and established the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital as a referral center for interventional pain for the Tristate region.

Dr. Nampiaparampil has over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals including over 20 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (AMA). Her 2008 first-author meta-analysis in JAMA highlighted the link between traumatic brain injury and chronic pain and changed how veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are triaged.

Dr. Nampiaparampil served as Fox 5 NY's on-air medical contributor and has appeared in over 500 national and international news segments for Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, The TODAY Show, The Dr. Oz Show, Good Morning Britain and others.
